Energy and Mines World Congress

from December 10, 2018 to December 11, 2018

The global mining sector is now fully engaged in a major energy transformation focused on reducing power use and costs, integrating renewables, and lowering carbon emissions. This transformation is being driven by rising and volatile energy costs, increased power security concerns, shareholder and regulatory pressures to decarbonize, the falling cost of alternative energy and the tie between sustainable energy and social license to operate. The last 18 months has witnessed the highest number of new alternative energy project announcements for mines with around a dozen projects publicly announced and several more advancing. Mines are also revamping their broader corporate strategies to center on lowering carbon emissions, integrating alternative energy, and, in some cases, decarbonizing the commodities they sell. This heightened activity has opened a window of opportunity for partnering and leading on these projects as they start to become “business as usual” for the mining sector. Now in its 6th year, the Energy and Mines World Congress is the global meeting place for senior mining, alternative energy, government and finance experts exploring cost-effective, reliable, and low-carbon energy for mines.
